Indian Skin Care Products

Majority of us already know that good skin care involves more than just washing your face, but once you get past exfoliators and moisturizers, you might begin to feel a little bit confused. There are so many types of products out there within the market, and there’s no way to set up the right skin care regimen for yourself if you don’t even know what these products do.

For better understanding of the skin care products we should be aware of what types of products are available, their functions and ingredients they contain. Let’s have a look:

  • Cleansers and Face Washes: Cleansers help to get rid of oil, dirt and pollutants and to remove makeup from the skin. They are in various forms like cleansing lotions, creams and gels with thick consistency and no foaming. It also moisturizes and hydrates. Similar products are face washes which are designed specially to clean the skin pores deeply, removing dirt, sweat and oil. They are available in various forms such as cream, gel, clay with different active components suitable for different skin types and skin problems.



  • Exfoliants: Exfoliators help to remove dead cells and prevent clogged pores. Chemical exfoliators like salicylic acid or glycolic acid, etc. and Natural exfoliants like Walnut powder, coffee, etc. are used as scrubbing agents.



  • Skin Serum: Serums are skin care products that are designed to deliver high concentrations of specific active ingredients to the skin. Most often, serums are clear, gel-based or liquid, and they tend to be less thick than a moisturizer. They are available for different skin types and for various skin problems like aging, acne, nourishment, etc.






  • Face Oils: Face oils are designed to provide skin with moisture and lock in hydration. Typically formulated with a mixture of plant oils. Argan, rose hip, jojoba, olive oil, etc. are some oils used in face oils.




  • Sunscreen: Sunscreens help to prevent risk of skin cancer and prevent premature aging caused by harmful UV rays. They are available in creams, lotions and gel form with Physical (Zinc oxide, Titanium oxide) and chemical (avobenzone and octisalate) sun screening agents.



  • Face Moisturizers: Facial moisturizers can enhance the functioning of the stratum corneum, the uppermost layer of skin. Applying a moisturizer can increase the moisture level of the stratum corneum, prevent skin from drying out. Emollients are the main components of moisturizing products. They are available in creams and lotions form.



  • Toners & Astringent: Astringent and toners can help the pore look smaller. Ingredients present in them can cause a temporary tightening effect on the skin, drawing the pores taut, although they aren't changing the pore size at all.



  • Face Packs & Masks: Face mask & packs can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores. They're also an excellent way to help pull out impurities. They are available in clay form, sheet mask.



  • Eye Care Products: Eye care products are available in various forms such as gels, lotions, creams, sheets, oils, etc. They are used for several purposes like dark circles, under-eye nourishment, cooling, etc.



  • Lip Care Products: Lip care products are used for moisturizing and nourishing the lips. These products are carefully designed with safe ingredients as the skin of lips is thin. The ingredients and flavors used are naturally derived. Following are the lip care products are available in market lip balm, lip gloss, lip sunscreen, lip collagen, lip stick, lip scrub etc.,



  • Treatment: Special products are available out there in the market for treatment of skin issues with different active ingredients such as anti-acne (Salicylic acid), whitening products (hyaluronic acid), Anti-aging (Retinols), etc.
